1. Program Description

Tether Inc. ("Tether," "we," "our," or "us") operates an SMS messaging program to support core features of the Tether mobile application. We send two types of SMS messages:

  • One-time verification codes (OTP): Short numeric codes sent to authenticate your identity during sign-in or when you update your phone number on your account. These are transactional messages required for account security.

Tether does not send promotional or marketing SMS messages.

2. How You Opt In

2.1 Verification Codes

When you create a Tether account or update your phone number, you provide your mobile phone number and explicitly consent to receive SMS one-time verification codes as part of the authentication process. Consent is obtained at the point of phone number entry in the app, and you must complete OTP verification to access the service.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your account activity:

  • Verification codes are sent only when you initiate a sign-in or phone-number change. Most users receive one OTP per session.

4. Costs

Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier messaging rates apply to SMS messages sent and received. Tether does not charge any additional fee for SMS messages. Please check with your mobile carrier if you are unsure about your messaging plan.

5. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of Tether SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After opting out:

  • You will receive a single confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out.
  • No further SMS messages will be sent to your number.
  • If you opt out of verification codes, you will no longer be able to sign in to Tether via SMS OTP on that number.
